Abstract
Mean sleep latency test (MSLT) has been an essential part in the diagnosis of narcolepsy. The presence of both mean sleep latency less than eight minutes and more than two episodes of sleep onset REM periods in the MSLT strongly favors the diagnosis of narcolepsy: however, it requires caution in the interpretation of the results of MSLT in isolation without clinical correlation. We report two cases of narcolepsy not fulfilling MSLT criteria and discuss the importance of MSLT analysis in conjunction with clinical findings and follow-up.
